Bobby Vincent of Football.London was at Stamford Bridge last night to watch Chelsea battered by PSG, and while he’s as sympathetic with Liam Rosenior as anyone, he did correctly note that two of the turning points over the two legs were the manager’s responsibility.

Rosenior at fault with two key personnel decisions

His piece points out that, while a huge amount of the gulf between the two sides is nothing to do with the Chelsea boss, key decisions in both games are entirely down to Rosenior.

“In the first leg, it was the inclusion of goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen that raised eyebrows.… In the second leg, Rosenior used Mamadou Sarr, a conventional centre-back, on the right side of defence… in his first Champions League appearance.”

It was Jorgensen who gave PSG the ball for their third goal in the first game, and Sarr’s mistake which gave them the opening goal last night.

Still, in the latter case, given the record of Benoit Badiashile, Josh Acheampong, Wesley Fofana and Tosin this season, it feels like there was no correct option for Rosenior last night.

In other news…

Fabio Capello has pointed out that some of Liam Rosenior’s behaviour on the touchline is not going to convince anyone he’s the man Chelsea need.

The shocking performance from the team is already bringing rumours about players like Enzo Fernandez wanting to leave.
