According to AS, Rubén Iranzo is close to joining Real Zaragoza after negotiations with Valencia intensified in recent hours following Maffeo’s arrival. The 23-year-old centre-back would move on a permanent deal, with Valencia retaining a percentage of his rights.
Iranzo, 1.82 metres and a former Under-19 international, can also cover at right-back. He would sign a three-year contract.
Rubén Iranzo Lendínez, born in Picanya on 14 March 2003, came through Valencia’s academy and debuted for the first team on 20 December 2021 against Levante. He featured again the following matchday at Mestalla, and last season scored his first goal in the Copa tie against Burgos. In total, he has played 12 first-team matches while also turning out for Valencia Mestalla in Segunda RFEF.
His arrival would also pave the way for Hugo Carrillo’s exit, with the defender absent from training this morning. Carrillo, who has one year left on his contract after a loan at Real Unión last season, is leaving for Mérida in Primera RFEF Group one.
With these two moves, Zaragoza would have their defence virtually settled, pending the addition of a specialist right-back.
