Rubén Iranzo has joined Real Zaragoza on a free transfer, with Valencia retaining 25 per cent of his rights. According to Superdeporte, Valencia gave the final green light on Saturday, 22 August after Pablo Maffeo completed his move to Mestalla.
Zaragoza had pursued the Valencia academy product all summer. The 23-year-old covers right-back and centre-back, which should strengthen his case for a starting role under the newly arrived Ibai Gómez.
Iranzo leaves Valencia after 14 years in the academy, having joined at benjamín level. An under-19 international and captain of Valencia Mestalla, he lacked a route into the senior squad.
Since making his first-team debut in 2021-22 in a derby win over Levante at the Ciutat de València, he has played 12 senior matches and scored once.
Last season he made four appearances under Carlos Corberán, three of them in the Copa del Rey, and found the net against Burgos in that competition.
