Rüdiger ‘to retire’ from Germany duty to focus on Real Madrid

Marca and Sky Germany report that Germany defender Antonio Rüdiger has decided to retire from international football after 86 caps.

Marca states the 33-year-old centre-back intends to focus fully on Real Madrid.

Marca adds he also wants to make room for the rebuild under new Germany head coach Jürgen Klopp.

At the World Cup he was behind Jonathan Tah and Nico Schlotterbeck in the pecking order, starting only when Schlotterbeck was injured.

The Berlin-born defender made his Germany debut in 2014.
