After Sporting’s 5-1 win over Vitória de Guimarães, Rui Borges was asked about Rodrigo Zalazar, the Braga midfielder Mourinho wants at Benfica. He praised the player but kept the focus on his own side.

According to Glorioso 1904, Borges said Zalazar is a top performer and pointed out there are many talents in the league, including at clubs that could be relegated.

He made clear he does not want to engage in market speculation at this stage, stressing the priority is winning matches rather than discussing potential signings.

Borges set out the run-in, with two league games left he wants to win both to try to finish second. Then comes the Taça de Portugal final, which he said they want more than transfer chatter. He added that places are earned on merit, whoever the players are.

Zalazar, valued at 22 million euros, has played 45 times for Braga this season, 27 in Liga Portugal Betclic, 14 in Liga Europa, two in Taça de Portugal and two in Taça da Liga. Across 3,221 minutes, he has scored 23 goals and made eight assists.
