Rui Costa has addressed Benfica’s members to outline preparations for 2026/27, setting out a budget that keeps sporting competitiveness at the fore. According to Glorioso 1904, the proposal goes to a General Assembly vote on 27 June.
The president says the board has balanced investment in football and other sports with financial rigour. The 2026/27 budget projects a positive result of 8.4 million euros, enabling the club to meet commitments and keep strengthening its squads.
He underlines the aim to keep Benfica competing for titles, adding that the document seeks to match efficient management with sporting ambition. He believes the team will be able to meet next season’s challenges with confidence and responsibility.
Costa also highlights sustained growth in own revenues, membership and supporter uptake of club initiatives. He points to the delivery of structural projects as vital to generating recurring value and consolidating Benfica’s future.
In his message he promises to prioritise the sporting side within the cost base while managing resources carefully. He believes Benfica enter 2026/27 stronger, with greater participation and better prepared for what lies ahead.
