Rui Costa is moving to lock in three of Benfica’s brightest prospects for the long term.
According to Glorioso 1904, Anísio Cabral, Daniel Banjaqui and José Neto are poised to sign new contracts running to June 2031, with agreements in place and release clauses set at 80 million euros.
All three are currently tied to June 2027, the maximum allowed for minors, and previously had 30 million euro clauses that drew interest from several European clubs.
After November’s World Cup win, José Mourinho brought the trio into first team training to assess them closely and handed official minutes, while Rui Costa opened talks with their representatives about renewals.
Negotiations with Cabral and Neto advanced fastest, with significant recent progress also on Banjaqui. The first team pathway and the SAD’s plan have accelerated understanding between the parties.
Cabral’s case carried urgency, as he turns 18 next Sunday, with Banjaqui reaching 18 on 24 March and Neto on 19 April. Cabral has risen in profile after two first team goals against Estrela da Amadora and Alverca. Barcelona, Liverpool, Chelsea, Marseille, Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern, Napoli, PSG and Manchester United are tracking the youngsters.
