According to Glorioso 1904, Rui Costa will not pursue a deal for Adama Traoré, leaving a switch to Benfica highly unlikely.

The Spain international was offered to the club in recent weeks, but he is not among the priorities set by Rui Costa’s leadership for 2026/27.

His name surfaced due to a strong connection with Marco Silva, who coached him during his time at Fulham.

Benfica are focusing on other positions judged more urgent, particularly the centre of defence, and have parked any move for additional wide players, including the West Ham man.

The 30-year-old’s salary expectations are also viewed as a major hurdle, with the figures above Benfica’s parameters for this market.

Traoré therefore looks set to continue his career away from the Luz, while the club assess options deemed a better fit for the project mapped out for Marco Silva.
