Rui Costa ‘to target’ Chiquinho team-mate Mouzakitis for Benfica amid Porto and Real Madrid interest | OneFootball

According to Glorioso 1904, Rui Costa has identified Olympiacos midfielder Christos Mouzakitis as a midfield target for Benfica, with the Greek prospect sharing a dressing room with Chiquinho.

The chase is expected to be fierce. Porto are attentive, while Milan, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Arsenal are also cited among the suitors.

Olympiacos have set an asking price of 40 million euros, a figure that complicates Benfica’s prospects and could discourage an immediate agreement.

Porto made formal enquiries to understand the conditions, then stepped back once the demands were deemed unaffordable. It remains unclear whether Rui Costa will persist under these terms.

This season Mouzakitis, valued at 25 million euros, has played 21 matches for Olympiacos, 14 in the A1 Ethniki Katigoria, six in the UEFA Champions League and one in the Kypello Elladas. Across 1,232 minutes he has provided two assists. He is under contract until 2029.
