Rulani Mokwena's MC Alger secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over CS Constantine in the Algerian Ligue 1 on Monday night.
The two sides canceled each other for the majority of the match, before Constantine were reduced to 10-man in the 90th minute, courtesy of Miloud Rebiai receiving a straight red card.
As a result, the reigning Algerian champions pounced on the numerical advantage, with Zinedine Ferhat netting deep in stoppage time to ensure maximum points remain in Algiers.
With the slender win, Mokwena's men are now 11 points clear of second-placed Sead Ramovic's CR Belouizdad, with both teams level on 14 games played.
Up next for the South African mentor and his table-topping troops is a clash against relegation-threatened ASO Chlef on Saturday, 10 January.
Meanwhile, Ramovic and CRB will welcome Josef Zinnabauer's JS Kabylie on the same day, in what promises to be a blockbuster encounter.
