Leicester City have appointed Tom Weal as first-team goalkeeping coach on Russell Martin's staff. The club said in a statement that he had joined the first-team staff as goalkeeping coach.

His appointment was confirmed on Wednesday at Seagrave after he had already been working with goalkeepers Jakub Stolarczyk, Fran Vieites and Stevie Bausor.

Martin has already brought in Conor Hourihane as assistant manager and Rhys Owen as fitness coach. Andy King is also part of the manager's team.

Weal arrives from MK Dons, where he was part of the coaching staff at Stadium MK. His previous roles include senior and academy posts with Huddersfield Town, Nottingham Forest, Norwich City, Notts County, Carlisle United and Sunderland, plus two spells with MK Dons, rejoining last summer after helping Sunderland return to the Premier League.

City had been without a dedicated goalkeeping coach since Javi Ortiz left when Marti Cifuentes was sacked in January. Lead Academy goalkeeping coach Glyn Thompson took first-team duties in the latter part of last season. The club have not had a long-serving goalkeeping coach since Mike Stowell departed.
