Former Chelsea player and manager Ruud Gullit has questioned whether Stamford Bridge is the right place for Jorrel Hato to develop.
Chelsea signed Hato from Ajax last summer in a deal worth an initial £35.5m, with the Dutch international regarded as one of the best young defenders in Europe.
Hato was signed to provide much needed back-up to Marc Cucurella at left back, and he’s filled a vital gap in the squad.
Hato has made 14 appearances in all competitions this season, but was used sparingly under former head coach Enzo Maresca.
However, the 19-year-old has featured in all three games under Liam Rosenior, and on early evidence seems to be trusted more by the Englishman.

Hato scored his first goal for the club against Charlton, and it will be interesting to see what opportunities he gets over the second half of the season.
Rosenior was impressed by what he saw from Hato against Charlton, but Gullit has questioned whether Chelsea is the right place for his development.
“I had doubts about his transfer to Chelsea,” he told Tribal Football.
“He was one of the best young players in Holland, and sometimes it’s better to stay longer and gain experience.
“He was captain at Ajax at such a young age, but Ajax were struggling. He escaped a difficult situation at Ajax.
“He saw it coming and thought it was the right time to leave. I don’t know if Chelsea is the right club for his development.”
Whilst one young defender in Hato is continuing to settle in at Chelsea, the Blues are looking to add another in Jeremy Jacquet.

Chelsea have changed their transfer plans and are looking to bring in a centre back this month, and have identified Jacquet as their main target.
The Blues have reportedly agreed personal terms with Jacquet, but Rennes want €65m for the 20-year-old, whilst Chelsea aren’t prepared to spend that much currently.
