Ruy Cabeção has been named Botafogo-PB technical coordinator as the club seek to steady form in the Campeonato Paraibano and revive a promotion push to Série B that has stretched since 2014.
According to Globo.com, the appointment has not yet been formally announced by the club, though the move has been confirmed by sources close to Botafogo-PB.
The former midfielder and right-back links up with head coach Lisca, plus veterans Henrique Dourado and Nenê. Both Dourado and Nenê, like Ruy, have represented Fluminense. Botafogo-PB are preparing for a 12th consecutive campaign in Série C.
As a player, Ruy featured for Cruzeiro, Botafogo, Grêmio and Fluminense, finishing his career at Operário VG in 2015. His honours include the Campeonato Carioca in 2006, the Copa Sul-Minas in 2000 and 2002, the Campeonato Mineiro in 2001 and 2003, and the Campeonato Brasiliense in 2011.
After retiring, he moved into corporate law and holds a CBF Academy A coaching licence. The coordinator role is being implemented at the club following the completion of its SAF last season.
Lisca was unveiled on Monday 2 to replace Bernardo Franco, who was dismissed after a heavy clássico defeat against Campinense.
Botafogo-PB visit Nacional de Patos on Thursday 5 at 20:00 at José Cavalcanti in the 6th round of the Campeonato Paraibano Pixbet 2026, a key fixture in the G-4 race.
Ruy Bueno Neto, 47, is scheduled to arrive in João Pessoa on Friday 6 to take up his post.
