It can be difficult to judge when a player is meant to make the jump to the Premier League. For many, that remains a career goal. In the case of Ryan Babel, Aston Villa was his first fixture as an EPL newcomer with Liverpool. Since retiring, naturally, he still keeps up with the latest, particularly concerning his youth team, Ajax.
While speaking with BesteOnlineCasinoNederland, the former Dutch international spoke on the current tract of Jorrel Hato, among other things. The 19-year-old defender offers a lot of potential, and he is garnering interest from some Prem teams. It is telling that the teenager's play has earned him consideration from the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal.
Even here, Babel warned of the youngster moving to a top club too soon, even mentioning why Villa would be an excellent option. In truth, a number of transfers are made without enough foresight. Sometimes, clubs will feel pressured to just make a move. The desire to truly find the best fit isn't taken enough into consideration, and the promised upgrade soon becomes a rallying cry for supporters.
Particularly for bigger clubs that are experiencing down years or that have a clear deficiency within the lineup, an otherwise unknowing player with potential gets thrown into a situation that few would be able to handle. Except for them, the lack of clout and goodwill among the fan base quickly has the latest addition labeled as a wasted transfer.
For someone like Hato, the best-case scenario, if making the jump from a league like the Eredivisie to the EPL, is to join a side like Villa. Particularly with Unai Emery, the club gives chances to young players and is willing to work through any pains throughout the season and help everyone with their development.
During the exclusive with the Dutch online casino, Babel explained why he viewed AVFC as a more suitable landing spot for an up-and-coming defender like Hato. He shared:
"I would advise him not to go to such a top club right away, but to go to a club where he can develop further in a higher rhythm and in a different culture. In the Premier League I think of clubs like Aston Villa or Newcastle, which are also not 'small' clubs."
Babel would go on to clarify that the expectation to get results is still present, but that there is more leeway, particularly compared to a club like Manchester City or Chelsea that would be all too eager to simply replace a 'failed' project with the next hot name of the month.
Under the guidance of Emeri and Monchi, the past LFC striker recognizes the unique opportunity that a place like Villa can provide players. For the top players, they can afford to spend a year in a bad fit and move on somewhere else. That isn't a luxury most have. Particularly with the 'starting 22,' someone may have a rough spell, but as long as they continue to show their willingness at Bodymoor, they'll continue to get opportunities on the pitch.
