Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are set to mark five years at the helm of Wrexham AFC by providing live commentary for their upcoming Championship clash against Welsh rivals Swansea.

The celebrity duo officially took over the then non-League club in 2021, a move that has since seen the Red Dragons achieve three successive promotions.

Wrexham are now firmly in contention for a place in the Premier League, a remarkable ascent under their ownership.

The unique commentary event will take place during the match against Swansea on Friday, March 13, at the Stok Cae Ras.

Swansea have also been in the spotlight recently after co-owner Snoop Dogg attended his first match since investing in the club last year.

The American rapper received a huge welcome from the fans last week before watching Swansea rescue a late point in their Championship clash with Preston.

In this month’s match, Reynolds and McElhenney will offer live analysis, with contributions also expected from fans.

Speaking on wrexhamafc.co.uk, the pair expressed their characteristic blend of humour and apprehension: "As with our decision to take over Wrexham five years ago, we genuinely have no idea how this is going to go, but we will give it our best.

“Neither of us have called a sporting event of any variety, let alone a sport we basically learned the rules of five years ago.

“Either way, it will be another unpredictable day at the Stok Cae Ras and we can’t wait. We’re grateful to our partners at the EFL and Sky Sports, the latter of which we hope is ready with the bleep button."

Wrexham currently occupy sixth place in the Championship table, holding the final play-off position after securing three consecutive wins. The club also faces Chelsea in the fifth round of the FA Cup this Saturday.
