Ryan Reynolds and fellow Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney will get behind the mic for Wrexham’s meeting with Swansea City later this month, fronting a first-of-its-kind live Sky Sports commentary from the Cae Ras. According to Wales Online, the broadcast is titled Live from Wrexham with Rob and Ryan.
The pair will appear alongside Sky Sports presenter David Prutton, providing analysis, real-time reactions and behind-the-scenes insight. The event coincides with five years since they took control of the club and follows the Emmy Award-winning success of Welcome to Wrexham.
The docuseries has tracked the club’s journey from the doldrums of the National League to the comparative bright lights of the Championship, bringing Wrexham to a global audience.
In a joint message, McElhenney and Reynolds said they do not know how the broadcast will go but will give it their best. They noted they have never called any sporting event and only learned football’s rules about five years ago, adding that another unpredictable day at the Racecourse awaits and thanking the EFL and Sky Sports, with a playful nod to a bleep button.
Chief executive Michael Williamson said the club has aimed to do things differently under their ownership. He added that the first-ever Live from Wrexham with Rob & Ryan, delivered with Sky Sports and the EFL, offers supporters worldwide another unique way to follow the Swansea match as sport and entertainment meet.
