Wrexham have received a major update on Norwich City striker Josh Sargent, who will not feature at the Racecourse Ground on Saturday. Head coach Philippe Clement said the 25-year-old has been disciplined and told to train with the second team for unacceptable behaviour, after he reportedly made himself unavailable for the FA Cup win at Walsall last weekend.
"If somebody comes tomorrow to pay £100m for Josh, he will go." Clement added he would not go into details and that Sargent knows why he is with the second team, speaking to BBC Radio Norfolk.
The situation comes amid links to a £13.5m move to MLS side Toronto FC this month as he seeks regular football before a World Cup on home soil. Wrexham have not been formally linked, although his name has been mentioned in connection with the club.
"I think it would be a really good addition, because he's a good player. He's good with his back to goal and he can score goals." Iwan Roberts said on the Fearless in Devotion podcast, while also noting Kieffer Moore is already Wrexham's first-choice striker.
Sargent joined Norwich from Werder Bremen in August 2021 and has 56 goals in 157 appearances, including eight in 25 this season. Norwich go into Saturday's game third from bottom and in a relegation battle. Wrexham are ninth, one point off the play-offs after knocking Nottingham Forest out of the FA Cup on penalties last Friday.
