Liam Manning's nightmare start in the dugout at his hometown club continued on Saturday as Norwich City lost away at Swansea City.

The defeat was the Canaries' fifth straight in the Championship, as their winless run stretched to eight games.

Graeme Bailey reported on October 20 that Norwich were preparing for life without the former Bristol City boss, and since then, the Canaries have lost another two games. Therefore, it comes as quite a shock that an announcement hasn't been made yet.

Norwich came into this season with high expectations of bouncing back to being play-off contenders after a poor campaign last year, but the club has regressed even further, and Canaries fans are getting quite frustrated.

Ultimately, the blame falls on the manager, and Zeke Downes, FLW's Norwich fan pundit, feels that it's only a matter of time before a change is made, and then his side can hopefully start climbing out of the relegation zone.

Picking up just eight points all season, Norwich are currently sitting second-bottom in the Championship.

Only Sheffield United have lost more games than the Canaries, and Sheffield Wednesday's 12-point deduction is the only thing stopping Downes and the rest of the Norwich fan base from looking even further behind and worrying about hitting the bottom of the table.

"I'm a bit tired of the whole situation," Downes said.

"We're second bottom in the league, Sheffield Wednesday's points deduction is saving us from possibly being bottom, and I'm quite shocked at how bad it has been so far."

Whilst new managers always need some time to adjust to new settings, time is clearly running out for Liam Manning.

He became the first Norwich manager to lose the East Anglian derby for 16 years, is yet to pick up a point at Carrow Road this season, and is currently leading the side through their worst losing run in the Championship since January 2016.

"You can take a few losses and put it down to the team not being ready and the manager needing more time, but to lose this many in a row...I can't see why they haven't pulled the trigger yet [and sacked him]," Downes continued.

"I don't know how they haven't made that decision yet, and I don't want to get to the point where we wait and wait until it's too late.

"If they're going to make the decision, they need to do it soon, and then we can push ourselves up the league, because as it is now, we're in a relegation battle."

It hasn't worked out for Liam Manning at Norwich City

When Norwich announced that Liam Manning had taken over during the summer, it seemed to many like a match made in heaven. Unfortunately, it's been anything but for the hometown boss.

It's clear that recruitment has been an issue at Carrow Road this summer, as the squad hasn't been performing to the expectations laid out when they signed, and whilst that may not be Manning's fault, he will ultimately take the blame for poor results, and there have been way too many of those so far in the infancy of this season.

With Manning's sacking seemingly inevitable at this point, it'll be intriguing to see who the board at Carrow Road turn to in an attempt to try and get a tune out of the players.

They'll be hoping that whoever they do turn to can steer them comfortably away from relegation before it becomes a real threat.

As for Liam Manning, it'll be even more interesting to see where he goes next. A clearly talented manager, as seen through his time at Bristol City, but this short tenure has, surprisingly, dampened his stock massively.
