AS Saint-Étienne midfielder Pierre Ekwah (24) is set to sign for AJ Auxerre on a season-long loan, according to a report from Onze Mondial, confirmed by Foot Mercato.

Ekwah had looked to force through an exit from Saint-Étienne this time last year. Whilst he failed to secure that exit in the summer, despite his strike, he did leave in the winter on a short-term loan deal. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Watford in the EFL Championship, however, the deal was not made permanent.

Ekwah does not want to compete with ASSE in Ligue 2. And he won’t have to, as per Onze Mondial. The midfielder is currently undergoing a medical to join Will Still’s Auxerre. An agreement has been reached regarding a loan deal with a buy option. Auxerre will pay a €300,000 fee for the loan and can make the loan permanent for a €6m fee at the end of the campaign.
