Saint Martin, Barbados start with victories in U-17 Qualifiers

MIAMI – The 2026 Concacaf U-17 Qualifiers kicked off with the opening matches in Group A on Tuesday at Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
Saint Martin 3-0 Sint Maarten
The tournament’s opening fixture presented a 3-nil win for Saint Martin over Sint Maarten in Group A.
Following a scoreless first half, Souleymane Aubriet placed Saint Martin in the lead in the 61’, with the first goal of the Qualifiers, capitalizing on a perfectly weighted cross from Wilfried Plumain.
Aubriet secured his second of the match in the 68’, doubling Saint Martin’s advantage on a fast break, slotting the ball at the bottom-left corner following a through ball from Raphaël Gavarin.
Gavarin rounded out the result with a goal of his own in the 86’, leaving his defenders behind with an individual effort down the right flank before striking from in the box.
Trinidad and Tobago 0-1 Barbados
The second Group A fixture of the day featured a 1-nil victory for Barbados against group hosts Trinidad and Tobago.
Adam King scored the winner for Barbados in the 75’, sending the ball to the back of the net with a header, assisted by Ashaun Grecia.
Barbados goalkeeper Kaliq Lashley pulled off a heroic save in the 85’ to preserve the lead for the Tridents, denying an attempt from J’Meke Watkins on a one-on-one opportunity.
Lashley delivered a solid performance in goal for Barbados, recording four saves and a clean sheet.
