Rangers welcomed Liverpool at the Ibrox Stadium earlier tonight as they looked to secure a good result in front of their home fans. The Glaswegian giants made a good start to the game and managed to get their noses ahead in the 17th minute courtesy of Scott Arfield’s clinical finish. However, the Merseyside club equalised just seven minutes later when Roberto Firmino scored with a good header from point-blank rangers. Rangers managed to hold Liverpool to a 1-1 draw at the half-time break.
The home team completely fell apart in the second half as they conceded their second goal in the 55th minute when Firmino scored again before Darwin Nunez killed the game off just 11 minutes later. Mohamed Salah came off the bench and rubbed salt in Rangers’ wounds as he scored a hattrick in just six minutes. Harvey Elliott added another goal late in the game as Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side ended up crashing to a dismal 7-1 defeat at home.
Let’s take a look at how each Rangers player performed during the match against Liverpool.
GK: Allan McGregor – 4/10
McGregor made a couple of solid saves but had to pick the ball up from the back of his net seven times during the 90 minutes. It was a nightmare outing for him.
RB: James Tavernier – 6/10
He made a handful of crucial defensive contributions but offered very little going forward.
CB: Connor Goldson – 6/10
Goldson earned the ball back twice and did well to restrict Liverpool to just one goal during his time on the field. He had to be taken off just before the half-time interval.
CB: Ben Davies – 5/10
He made a few vital clearances but was simply not good enough to stop Liverpool from wreaking havoc in the second half.

LB: Borna Barisic – 5/10
Barisic looked defensively vulnerable throughout the game as he struggled to deal with Harvey Elliott’s footwork. However, he made one good run with the ball.
CM: John Lundstrum – 5.5/10
The English talent began the game well and had some lively moments in the Liverpool half. He tried his best to protect his backline but in vain.
CM: Ryan Jack – 6/10
Jack picked up an assist for setting up Arfield’s goal. However, he lacked quality on the defensive end of the field.
RM: Fashion Sakala – 7/10
He worked hard and produced a good display in both halves. However, Sakala failed to register a goal.
CAM: Scott Arfield – 6.5/10
Arfield took his goal well and caused some problems for the Liverpool centre-backs. However, he was a spectator for most of the second half.
LM: Ryan Kent – 6/10
The former Liverpool talent tried to make things happen against his old club in the first half. However, he ran out of gas in the second.
ST: Antonio-Mirko Colak – 5/10
He struggled to get into the rhythm of the game and produced a lackluster display in the final third.
