Salford City are looking to bring Alassana Jatta to the Peninsula Stadium this summer
Salford City are preparing for their eighth consecutive campaign in League Two, after coming the closest they've come to the third tier in their history.
The Ammies were a win away at Crawley Town on the final day of last season from finishing ahead of Cambridge United in the automatic promotion places, but had to settle for a goalless draw, despite plenty of chances.
Regardless, the fourth-placed finish was the highest in Salford's history, and many backed them to get over the line in the play-offs, but a poor performance in the final against Notts County cost them promotion and cost manager Karl Robinson his job.
The identity of the new man in the dugout at the Peninsula Stadium is yet to be known, but the ownership group, led by former Manchester United teammates David Beckham and Gary Neville, are working tirelessly to bolster the squad to give the new manager the best possible chance of finally getting that first EFL promotion over the line.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, Salford want to buy Notts County frontman Alassana Jatta, mere weeks after the Gambian frontman contributed to the Magpies' promotion at the Ammies' expense.
Jatta opened the scoring in the first half for Martin Paterson's side, and was a thorn in the side of the Salford defence all afternoon in the Wembley sunshine as Notts prevailed 3-0 on Bank Holiday Monday.
That effort was the 27-year-old's 16th of the campaign in 36 outings in all competitions, taking his overall tally for Notts County to 43 goals in 89 games.
Jatta burst onto the scene after arriving from Danish side Viborg in February 2024, scoring five in 10 in his first half-season, before following that up with 19 goals in his first full fourth-tier campaign, a tally bested only by Bromley's Michael Cheek.
A violent outburst in the play-offs against AFC Wimbledon ended that season on a sour note for the frontman, and many speculated he'd be leaving Meadow Lane this time last year to a League One side.
Ironically, now Notts are back in the third tier, he could find himself moving back down to Salford, with Nixon stating that the Ammies are willing to part ways with a "serious six-figure number" and offer him "much more" in terms of wages per week than the Magpies would be willing to give him.

Salford will still likely be among the big-money sides in League Two next season, even coming off the back of a promotion near-miss, and after two failures in the play-offs since they arrived in League Two, they're clearly not wanting to mess around with the postseason this year.
The Ammies' frontline is already rather frightening, with Kallum Cesay and Kelly N'Mai offering a threat when fit. Daniel Udoh is clearly playing at a level below what many perceive him to be capable of. And while his output did decrease in Salford, Ryan Graydon was a statement signing from Fleetwood Town in January.
Adding Jatta to that would be a real statement of intent, bolstering an already impressive attacking quartet and adding even more goals. Most importantly, though, they'd be signing someone who has a reputation for scoring them in League Two, as they aim to get out of the division.
The 27-year-old has already spearheaded an attack which won promotion into the third tier this past season, and if Salford can secure his signature this summer, there'd be little stopping him from celebrating League One promotion yet again this time next year.
