Salma Paralluelo has rejected Barcelona’s renewal offer and is leaving the club. The 22-year-old forward scored twice in the Champions League final in Oslo.

The club said in a statement that her contract had expired on Thursday, ending their relationship. She departs after four seasons at Barça. She becomes the fourth confirmed first-team departure after Alexia Putellas, Mapi León and Ona Batlle.

The decision had been set for weeks, taken after a short break following the season and Spain duty. An improved offer, raised from the initial proposal and her current terms, did not persuade her to stay. She weighed up remaining at the club until the last moment.

She is attracting many, and very strong, suitors in Europe and the United States.

Paralluelo joined Barça in 2022 after combining athletics training while playing for Villarreal, choosing football decisively on arrival. Her spell in Barcelona has not been straightforward, with knee pain forcing occasional stoppages.

Early this season she followed a physical reconditioning plan and, after months out, became important for coach Pere Romeu again. In late October she injured her left knee on Spain duty, suffering a partial tear of the lateral ligament after a challenge from a Swedish opponent.

She returned in January and her performances improved steadily.
