Sam Byram has hinted he could prioritise regular minutes this summer, with his Leeds United contract, one of four permanent deals set to expire, up at the end of next month.
“Yeah, I think get the job done here. You know, I'm confident that, you know, we'll see that out. And then for me, you know, I still think I've got a few years ahead playing football.” He told the Official Leeds United podcast.
The 32-year-old returned in 2023 and signed fresh terms last July. The other three are goalkeepers.
He played eight minutes at Arsenal in August and has not featured in the Premier League since. His only start came in that month's Carabao Cup shootout defeat to Sheffield Wednesday, with brief FA Cup cameos against Derby County and Norwich City.
“I'd like to play regularly if I can.”
Leeds are expected to strengthen at full-back this summer, so a decision now looms. If Byram and Leeds decide to part ways, it will be in far better circumstances than last time, after he helped deliver last season's 100-point title.
