Sam Johnstone is in talks with Celtic over a move away from Wolves this summer. The 33-year-old has no future at Molineux after a window of links elsewhere.

According to reports in Scotland, Celtic are initially exploring a loan after missing out on qualifying for the league phase of the Champions League, and want an experienced goalkeeper to compete with Viljami Sinsalo for the No one shirt.

Wolves have added Joao Virginia and John Ruddy this summer to support Jose Sa. Sa could still depart before Tuesday's 11pm transfer deadline, with Rayo Vallecano interested.

That leaves no place for Johnstone, who joined from Crystal Palace for £10 million in summer 2024 and struggled to nail down a role under a succession of head coaches.

He has made 27 appearances for Wolves in all competitions, 19 in the Premier League, and underwent shoulder surgery late last season to be fit for the new campaign.

Earlier in his career he played for West Brom, Aston Villa and Walsall, winning promotion with the Baggies in 2020 and reaching the Championship play-off final with Villa in 2018. He has four England caps, the latest in 2023 while at Crystal Palace.
