We as Celtic supporters can pitch our own ideas into who we believe would further enhance our ailing squad, and for me I’ve taken a recent keen interest in the MLS market, due to Wilfried Nancy’s well known knowledge on that scene and I’ve come across a few players who I reckon would improve not only our squad, but our starting XI.
We’re all assuming that Nancy will use his knowledge of the soccer scene in the USA as he bids to re-shape his Celtic squad into his own philosophy, much in the same way Ange Postecoglou successfully managed to do with his first hand experience of the J league in Japan, bringing in top quality players like Kyogo Furuhashi, Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate.

A recent delve into the MLS soccer scene has seen me study a few players who would undoubtedly prove to be valuable additions, such as Diego Rossi, a player whom I wrote about in the Celtic Star just a few days ago and I’d wager my $75 no deposit bonus that he’d be a superb addition to the current Celtic squad, as indeed would my next ‘transfer target’ from the MLS.

One other name who caught my eye was a player by the name of Sam Surridge, a 27 year old Englishman who currently plays for Nashville SC.
Surridge a former England under 21 international is a centre forward, the goal poaching type who thrives on putting away chances that come his way in-front of goal. At 6ft 3in he’s a towering physical presence, and the sort of player we’re crying out for to beef up our lacklustre forward line.
The former Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest man boasts an impressive record of 51 goals in 87 games for the MLS side, and has 31 strikes in 40 games this campaign to date, and trails just behind Lionel Messi in the MLS goalscoring charts.
The Slough born target man is out of contract next year so could be available for around the £5 million mark. Is he a player we should be targeting? Yes I very much think that he is.

Sam Surridge is a player who Wilfried Nancy will know very well and given his height, strength and eye for a goal he could, like the aforementioned Diego Rossi, tick many of the boxes on Celtic’s to-do list for what really needs to be a busy transfer window after the two dreadfully damaging windows in 2025 that left the Celtic squad with significant gaps, notably at outside right and centre-forward.

Diego Rossi and Sam Surridge would be tremendous additions to the Celtic squad, both are affordable, both well known to the new Celtic manager and both would help fill the gaps in the current Celtic squad. Hopefully Wilfried Nancy is thinking along similar lines. We’ll know soon enough.
