Chivas Femenil’s visit to Puebla ended with a more than positive balance: the team came from behind to defeat La Franja, extended its unbeaten run to five matches in the Clausura 2026—with three consecutive wins—and remained among the top spots in the standings. But above all else, the goal that sparked the Rojiblanca comeback in the Angelópolis carried a special meaning, and here’s why.
Trailing 1–0 and after a somewhat misleading first 45 minutes, the Rebaño pushed forward in stoppage time before halftime. Eva González delivered a left-footed corner kick with a tight curl that dropped sharply to prevent the goalkeeper from coming out, allowing Samantha López to make clean contact with a powerful header to level the score before the break.
In that moment, “Sam” unlocked a historic milestone, becoming the 50th player to score wearing the Chivas Femenil jersey. That’s right: the 605 goals scored by Rojiblanca players (excluding own goals in their favor) in Liga MX Femenil have been shared among half a hundred different footballers.
It was a double celebration for Samantha: she contributed a goal toward another Guadalajara victory while also scoring for the first time with the Rebaño Sagrado—placing her name in the club’s history in a very special category.
