Samir El Mourabet handed two-match ban after red card at Marseille | OneFootball

Samir El Mourabet has been given a two-match suspension after his red card in Strasbourg’s 4-0 defeat at Marseille, a harsher penalty than Christ Makosso’s.

According to L'Équipe, the LFP disciplinary commission met on Wednesday to address the cases. El Mourabet was dismissed for a brutal challenge on Pierre-Emile Höjbjerg and was the first player sent off in Ligue 1 this season.

He will miss Strasbourg’s next two fixtures, against Lens on Saturday at 17:15, then Troyes on 6 September.

Auxerre defender Christ Makosso received a one-match ban, with a second suspended, after being sent off by referee Mathieu Vernice for bringing down Abdallah Sima as the last defender. Reduced to 10 men, AJA lost 2-5 to Lens. He will miss the home meeting with Angers.

In Ligue 2, Metz recruit Idris Mohamed was also handed a one-match ban after two bookings in the 1-1 draw with Laval.
