Sammy Braybrooke targets Leicester breakthrough after first start | OneFootball

Sammy Braybrooke is aiming to kick-start his Leicester City career after his first Leicester City start, which came in the Carabao Cup against Northampton Town as the 2026/27 League One campaign nears.

The midfielder first featured for the Foxes in November 2022, coming off the bench against Newport County. A serious knee injury sidelined him for a long spell before loans with Dundee, Newport and Chesterfield.

Last season the 22-year-old excelled individually, helping Chesterfield reach the League Two play-offs. He then impressed in pre-season and drew praise from City boss Russell Martin.

“It’s a long time since my debut but happy to finally get a start and hopefully I can build on it,” he told the club’s official website. “I’ve been here since I was a little kid. To finally get that full debut feels really good. I guess that’s what every kid dreams of once you sign here, so to finally get it done is very pleasing.”

Martin has leaned on the academy through pre-season, with Braybrooke joining Jayden Joseph and Will Alves in starting against Northampton. He said the midfielder grew into the game, highlighted his ability to take the ball and drive forward, and added there is plenty of room for improvement across the team.
