Jorge Sampaoli has agreed to take charge of Talleres in Argentina’s top flight, with a deal running until December 2027.
According to Coluna Do Fla, the contract is due to be signed on Thursday 11, and he has been without a club since departing Atlético-MG on 16 February.
Despite being Argentine, this will be the first club from his homeland that Sampaoli has managed, having previously coached the national team at a World Cup.
His spell at Atlético-MG began poorly, with only two wins in 10 matches.
He will succeed Carlos Tévez, the Boca Juniors idol, whose contract was not renewed in May and who left Talleres.
Sampaoli managed Flamengo in 2023 after replacing Vítor Pereira, taking the team to the Copa do Brasil final, where they lost to São Paulo.
Results and dressing-room harmony deteriorated after an assistant assaulted forward Pedro. He was dismissed that year after 39 games, recording 20 wins, 11 draws and eight defeats, before Tite took over.
