Nearly seven months after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, Samu has rejoined full training with his team-mates and could be back sooner than the mid-November target.

According to O Jogo, he has entered the final phase of his rehabilitation, with staff exercising caution given his physiology.

Farioli has underlined that recovery will be handled day by day. He said competitive minutes will only follow once the medical department and the surgical team provide full clearance, and that it should still take a few more weeks. He added that seeing Samu back on the pitch and working with the ball has lifted the group.

Beginning this stage early has shortened his convalescence, but an accelerated return to competition could yet be counterproductive, so caution remains.

Samu could come into consideration after the October international break, provided he passes all required tests and the team led by Manuel Leyes gives the green light.
