Samuel Kotto joins Reims on loan with €4m option

Stade de Reims have signed Cameroon international Samuel Kotto from La Gantoise on a fee-paying loan until the end of the season, with a €4m option to buy.

He featured in La Gantoise’s 4-2 win over Anderlecht on Sunday. In a statement on the club’s website, Kotto called Reims a new personal challenge and said his aim is to give everything to secure promotion to the top flight.

Reims are fifth in the second tier.

The former Malmö defender, 22 and 1.90m tall, has made 10 appearances this season for the Belgian club, totalling 496 minutes, and has largely been used in rotation.

He impressed at the Africa Cup of Nations, playing every minute of four of Cameroon’s five matches before a 2-0 quarter-final defeat to Morocco.
