Flamengo thrashed Sampaio Corrêa 7-1 in the Campeonato Carioca, sealing qualification after a dominant display in which Samuel Lino led a rampant attacking performance.

According to Globo.com, Lino was the standout, combining smartly with Carrascal, winning the ball for the opener, setting up Pedro and Bruno Henrique, and scoring himself.

Pedro struck twice and also created chances for Emerson Royal and Lucas Paquetá. Bruno Henrique came on to score with a fine finish and a penalty, then assisted Douglas Telles. Everton headed in and was denied a second by a fine save.

Carrascal supplied Pedro’s first and impressed with his corners, while Emerson Royal added two assists. Wallace Yan built the move for Lino’s goal and burst clear to win the penalty. Vitão and Danilo were largely untroubled, with Vitão creating a big chance for Paquetá and missing a header.

Flamengo’s only blemish came when Rodrigo Andrade scored, with Andrew caught high and Ayrton Lucas losing the duel. The goalkeeper was otherwise tidy with his feet. Erick Pulgar’s cameo was quiet.

Head coach Filipe Luís used Paquetá as a second midfielder before moving him wider after the break, and rotated to protect those short of fitness, a plan that worked.
