Samuel Lino settled Flamengo’s 1-0 win over Remo at the Mangueirão with a Romário-style toe-poke, taking him to 29 direct goal involvements this season.
According to Globo.com, he downplayed the previous game’s disagreement with Arrascaeta. The pair promptly combined again as the Uruguayan supplied the winner, a third Lino goal from the No 10’s assist.
Head coach Leonardo Jardim hailed Lino’s versatility, saying he has embraced new ideas to contribute both in attack and defence and brings different nuances to team-mates such as Arrascaeta and Carrascal.
Lino said there was no controversy, admitting he had been hot-headed after the 2-0 win over Mirassol but stressing the group are united in seeking the best for Flamengo.
He is in contention for a Brazil call-up from Carlo Ancelotti on Wednesday for friendlies with Australia and India between late September and early October, and said he feels calm, leaving it in God’s hands. He received one call-up last year but did not go to the World Cup.
Flamengo now prepare for Independiente del Valle in the Libertadores quarter-final first leg at altitude in Quito on Thursday at 21:30 Brasília time.
