Samuel Portugal has joined Gil Vicente from Porto on a permanent deal. The 32-year-old Brazilian goalkeeper has signed a two-year contract to 2028.

Porto said in a statement that it had transferred his registration and 60% of his economic rights, retaining 40%, and incurred no intermediary costs.

He spent four seasons at the club but never made a first-team appearance, although he played 10 times for the B team. At Gil Vicente he will compete for the gloves with Lucão and André Picornell.

Portugal made his name during two seasons with Portimonense before moving to Porto in 2022. He began his career in Brazil with Coritiba, Metropolitano, EC Água Santa and Anápolis.

Last season he was loaned to Al Akhdoud in Saudi Arabia, where he played 27 matches.
