Boca are planning for next season, due to start on 25 January against Deportivo Riestra at La Bombonera, and want Gastón Hernández and Alexis Cuello from San Lorenzo. According to LaNumer12.com.ar, talks face a significant legal and financial hurdle.
Former San Lorenzo president Marcelo Moretti, who was removed after claims he was filmed allegedly taking a 25,000 dollar bribe from a youth player's mother, outlined the obstacle. He said an embargo from a Swiss fund for 700,000 dollars linked to Agustín Martegani prevents sales to Boca.
Any transfer would have to exceed nearly five million dollars, making a deal unappealing, he added. Malcom Braida moved after triggering his clause, rather than through a San Lorenzo sale to Boca.
He also recalled that Juan Román Riquelme called in June about Tonga, and he gave the same explanation, so talks fell away.
As Boca seek reinforcements for a demanding year, San Lorenzo's legal case complicates moves for Hernández and Cuello. The club may have to seek alternatives or wait for a resolution.
Meanwhile, Marino Hinestroza is close to becoming their first addition of this window. He is understood to have accepted the conditions for a multi-year contract and the deal could be concluded this week.
An agreement with Atlético Nacional would be for under six million dollars, with most paid in a single instalment and the rest tied to objectives. The Colombian club have lowered initial demands and would accept Boca's second offer.
