Sanches Fernandes earns Excelsior a draw as Heracles remain bottom | OneFootball

Heracles and Excelsior drew 1-1 on Friday night in Almelo, a result that keeps the hosts bottom of the Eredivisie.

Early on, Ajdin Hrustic struck the bar before Sem Scheperman opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, turning in from close range after a corner.

Excelsior lost Lewis Schouten to injury before the interval, with Rick Meissen introduced, and Heracles made a change at the break as Mimeirhel Benita came on for Jannes Wieckhoff.

After the restart, Derensili Sanches Fernandes levelled (57.) from the centre of the box after Noah Naujoks' pass. Moments later, Scheperman departed injured, with Jan Zamburek sent on.

Remko Pasveer kept Heracles level with smart stops from Emil Hansson and Naujoks in the closing stages. Stijn van Gassel denied Ivan Mesik soon after the equaliser as the visitors held their shape.

Heracles registered 13 attempts and won six corners. Excelsior produced 15 efforts and earned one corner.
