Sandro Wagner, formerly head coach of FC Augsburg, has revealed that he is in no rush to return to a pitch-side dugout any time soon.

“I want to make my next decision in a way that works for both sides," Wagner explained in an interview with Kicker.de.

"I'm young, I'm 38-years-old, and I do this job because I believe in it. And I want the next opportunity to be right.

“If something exciting and worthwhile comes along that suits both of us, then we'll come together. And if not, then I'll wait,” he added.

Nevertheless, Wagner revealed that he will eventually make his return and was thankful for the opportunity in Augsburg despite the ending.

"I'm keen to be a coach. I'm keen to implement an active style of play; to work with young players; to play attacking football.

“I've checked out a lot of clubs in this area. We're all aware that next time I'll be going further afield. Whether I end up living in Northern Germany or Italy is almost irrelevant.

“If I hadn't had the experience in Augsburg [during the 2025-26 season], things wouldn't be as clear to me as they are now.

“I'm absolutely sure that in ten years I'll be able to say: ‘It was great that I was in Augsburg.’ I'm completely convinced of that,” he concluded
