Sandry agrees contract termination with Santos | OneFootball

Sandry has agreed to terminate his contract with Santos, ending a 13-year association with the club. The deal had been due to expire at the end of this season.

According to Globo.com, he was loaned to Criciúma this season and left after 11 matches in late April. Since then he has been training on a small-sided pitch.

A Santos academy graduate, he made his first-team debut in 2019. He departs with 107 appearances and four assists.

Jorge Sampaoli handed him his first senior opportunity, and that year he won the U-17 World Cup with Brazil. The following season he cemented his place and started the Copa Conmebol Libertadores final against Palmeiras.

In April 2021 he suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during training. In 2022 he missed the first five games with a left ankle sprain, then picked up a left hamstring injury in the second half of the year.

He began 2023 as a starter, but his run was halted when Marzagão of Portuguesa elbowed him in the face in the Campeonato Paulista. Fractures to his nose and jaw required surgery, followed by another procedure to treat recurrent infections around the facial surgery site.

In August that year he ruptured the ACL in his left knee, sidelining him until May 2024. Last year, out of Pedro Caixinha’s plans, he joined Athletic, of Minas Gerais, on loan.
