According to Diario Do Peixe, Santos have agreed to loan defender Alexis Duarte to Libertad in Paraguay on a one-year deal, and are expected to cover half of his salary.
Duarte has not been first choice under Juan Pablo Vojvoda, and costly errors in the heavy defeat to Chapecoense on the opening day of the Brasileiro led Santos to seek a market solution.
This year he has played only once, against Chapecoense. In the Paulistão he was on the bench for the derby with Corinthians at Vila Belmiro, and was omitted for the other eight matches. In Serie A he started the first round, then was not named for the next two games.
Last year he made four starts, facing Red Bull Bragantino, Grêmio, Ceará and Palmeiras, and played one half against Botafogo.
Duarte arrived last year from Spartak Moscow, with Santos investing four million dollars, and signed through 2029. Wearing number 23, he has made only six appearances for the club. He has earned Paraguay call-ups and debuted for the Albirroja in November last year.
The 25-year-old, nicknamed Pulpito, came through Cerro Porteño, winning the Paraguayan Apertura in 2020 and Clausura in 2021. He moved to Russia in 2023 for his first experience abroad.
