Robinho Jr. is in limbo at Santos amid a contract impasse, with the club and his representatives giving conflicting accounts of a December renewal offer, according to Globo.com.
On Friday, during recovery work after the Brasileirão win over Vasco, head coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda suggested Robinho Jr., João Ananias and João Alencar play for the Brasileirão Sub-20 side against Cruzeiro on Sunday to build sharpness, before rejoining the senior squad on Tuesday.
Robinho Jr. featured in promotional material for the game, which Cruzeiro won 1-0. The club then received a directive from his camp not to field him, despite confirmation of his return to the professional group on Tuesday.
His agent rejects the notion of a veto, saying it was a joint call with the professional football department after the forward took a knock in training and was medicated, so resting him was deemed prudent.
The misalignment predates this episode. In December, Santos approached his camp with a renewal worth four to five times his current salary, though his side maintains there has been no concrete financial discussion and that any proposal was delivered incorrectly and to the wrong person.
The mooted deal would include performance bonuses and a career plan, and a meeting is expected this week to discuss terms. Robinho Jr. is under contract until 30 April 2027.
