Santos returned to CT Rei Pelé on Monday 22 to begin mid-season preparations, opening with medical and physical assessments after more than two weeks off.

According to Diario Do Peixe, players were split into groups for medical, physical and physiological testing, with some taking to the pitch as checks continue on Tuesday 23. A photo released by Santos showed Gabigol undergoing physical tests.

With the long pause in collective work, the club repeated virtually all start-of-season protocols. Seven subgroups of four players were scheduled to complete testing across the two days, while others followed a gradual reintroduction on the grass.

The programme spans multiple departments, including medicine, physiotherapy, physiology, strength and conditioning, nutrition, dentistry and ophthalmology. Measures include strength, power, endurance, jump metrics, thermography, body composition, laboratory work and clinical evaluations.

Santos have also added neuromodulation assessments at LATEC, a facility dedicated to the technical and cognitive development of athletes.

With around one month until the next official match, head coach Cuca now has his longest uninterrupted training window since returning. The club will compete in the Campeonato Brasileiro, the Copa do Brasil and the Copa Sudamericana in the second half of the season.
