Santos close to terminating Zé Rafael deal, Mayke dispute persists | OneFootball

Santos are close to terminating Zé Rafael’s contract but remain in a stand-off with Mayke, with both players training apart at CT Rei Pelé.

According to Diario Do Peixe, the pair were removed from first team plans after the World Cup break and offered mutual settlements, as happened with Tomás Rincón.

Zé Rafael has agreed terms and is nearing an exit. Mayke deems the offer too low, may go to court, and the case is with the club’s legal department. Both signed last year to December 2027.

Representatives want a swift resolution as they seek new clubs. The window opened on 20 and closes 11 September. With three league games for Mayke and five for Zé Rafael, both remain under the 13 match cap to join another Série A side.

Mayke arrived in July last year from Palmeiras, who released him without a fee. Santos took on a salary around R$ one million per month plus bonuses. He made 12 league appearances last season.

This year he has eight games, four in the Paulista, three in the league and one in the Sudamericana. Cuca said he planned knee surgery, but he has not had it and awaits clarity on his future.

Zé Rafael joined in February last year for R$ 15 million. Back surgery delayed his debut and he finished with one goal in 28 games. This season he has 12 matches, one goal and one assist after spells with conjunctivitis, tendinitis, thigh oedema and an ankle sprain.
