Santos have banked 700,000 dollars, R$ 3.6 million, for booking a place in the Copa Sul-Americana quarter-finals.

After a 2-1 first-leg win at Vila Belmiro last week, they completed the job with a 0-0 draw against Macará in Ambato, Ecuador, on Thursday. According to Globo.com, the campaign has generated $2.225 million, R$ 11.56 million, in prize money so far.

The sum includes 300,000 dollars for the group stage, 125,000 dollars for a group win, 500,000 dollars for the round-of-16 play-offs and 600,000 dollars for reaching the last 16, plus 700,000 dollars for the quarter-final berth.

The windfall is seen as crucial to cash flow, with image-rights payments to the squad two months in arrears. Salaries have been regularised since July.

Santos face Atlético-MG in the quarter-finals in the second and third weeks of September. A semi-final place would be worth 800,000 dollars, about R$ 4.1 million at Thursday's rate.
