Santos have extended centre-back João Alencar’s contract to the end of 2031, the renewal registered in the BID on Wednesday 19, according to Diario Do Peixe.
It is his second new deal in under a year, after signing through June 2030 last September. The U20 captain is a regular and has already been with the senior side.
He has played two first-team friendlies, against RB Leipzig of Germany at Cícero de Souza Marques in Bragança Paulista in May last year, then versus União São João at Pacaembu in July this year.
In 2026 for the U20s he has one goal in four Copinha games, one Paulista appearance and 21 in the Brasileiro.
From Belo Horizonte, he has spent nine years at Santos. He started aged four at a school, switched to an América-MG franchise after the court closed, then joined Cruzeiro’s school aged seven.
He won the GoCup in 2016 and was runner-up in 2017 while on Santos’ radar. He also played as a midfielder. He arrived in September 2017, recruited by Leandro Macagnam, assistant Bruno Silva and Paulo Robson, and later settled at centre-back after playing futsal.
Honours include the Paulista Cup Under-16 in November 2022 and the Copa Brasileirinho Under-16 last year. In 2024 he won the Paulista with the Under-17s and earned an Under-17 national team call-up alongside Vinicius Lira and Luca Meirelles. He cites Tiago Silva, plus the Meninos da Vila, Jair and Kayky.
