Santos face STJD scrutiny after fan spits at Mirassol’s Reinaldo | OneFootball

Santos are under STJD scrutiny after a supporter spat at Mirassol left-back Reinaldo during Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Vila Belmiro in the Brasileirão.

Referee Edina Alves recorded in her match report that in the 25th minute Reinaldo was spat at as he prepared to take a throw-in, noting the act came from the Santos section but the individual could not be identified.

Santos’ security and IT departments are working to identify the supporter following the report. The club is seeking to do so in a bid to mitigate a possible punishment for Vila Belmiro.

On Monday, the case was taken up by the prosecutor’s office, which is considering filing a complaint against Santos.

Reinaldo later condemned the incident on social media, calling it disgusting, lamentable and shameful. He urged that appropriate measures be taken so it does not happen again to him or any colleague.
