Santos fail in bid to switch Flamengo clash to São Paulo | OneFootball

According to Diario Do Peixe, Santos’ attempt to move their round 29 game with Flamengo to Morumbis failed, so it stays at Vila Belmiro at 19:30 on 8 October.

The club had approval from CBF and São Paulo, but the change required shifting off 8 October because Palmeiras host Bahia at 21:30 that night at Nubank Parque.

São Paulo’s prosecutors do not allow two big matches in the city on the same day, so the date had to change.

A switch to 7 October was proposed, but Flamengo refused, citing players returning from the FIFA window and a need for extra recovery and preparation time.

Santos also looked at moving the round 32 home match with Bahia on 24 October, but Palmeiras are due to face Red Bull Bragantino at Nubank Parque that day.

A 25 October date was blocked by the second-round elections, and 26 October, a Monday, was deemed unworkable given the next fixture and Morumbis’ preparations for BTS concerts on 28, 30 and 31 October.

Santos v Palmeiras in round 33 is set for 28 October at Vila Belmiro and cannot move, as Morumbis will host the first BTS show that night.

A return to the capital is likely in November, with Grêmio in round 36 the leading candidate on 21, 22 or 23 November, details still to be set.

Santos then host Botafogo on 2 December in round 38, with kick-off times for the closing rounds yet to be confirmed.
