Santos’ 2-0 defeat to Athletico-PR on Sunday triggered angry protests at Vila Belmiro, aimed at president Marcelo Teixeira and the squad.
According to Diario Do Peixe, demonstrations began at half-time with Santos already behind and they continued after the final whistle.
As players headed for the dressing room, supporters vented at Teixeira and condemned the team’s performance, using profanity and calling the side shameful.
More than 7,000 in attendance booed, and protests also flared near the dressing-room area. Chants warned there was nowhere to hide at Vila Belmiro, alongside crude calls for Teixeira to take his son and leave.
The result leaves Santos on 22 points from 21 matches, down to 17th in the Campeonato Brasileiro and into the relegation zone.
Internacional moved to 23 after drawing with leaders Palmeiras, climbing above the Peixe.
Cuca’s side now turn to the Copa Sudamericana, hosting Ecuador’s Macará on Thursday at 19:00 Brasília time at Vila Belmiro. In the league, they visit Vasco on Sunday at 16:00 Brasília time at São Januário.
