Santos supporters staged a forceful protest against the club hierarchy at Vila Belmiro an hour before a 6-0 win over Velo Clube in the eighth and final round of the Paulistão on Sunday.

According to Diario Do Peixe, the Torcida Jovem, the club’s largest organised group, directed their anger at president Marcelo Teixeira and football director Alexandre Mattos.

More than 500 members gathered with drums, flags and banners. The demonstration remained peaceful but uncompromising. Some wore clown noses, threw fake money and displayed effigies of Teixeira and Mattos labelled “reconstrução” and “planejamento”.

Chants were laced with expletives and threats, while banners accused the board of selling club jewels and buying illusions, demanded signings and called for respect for Santos.

Transfer business drew particular criticism, with fans citing signings they see as unsuccessful, including Yusupha Nije, Billal Brahimi and Gustavo Caballero, and others yet to convince such as right-back Mayke and forwards Lautaro Díaz and Tiquinho Soares. There were also mock price tags lamenting cheap sales of defender Jair, left-back Souza and forward Luca Meirelles, and frustration at right-back JP Chermont being loaned to Coritiba this week.
