Santos have handed six sponsorship slots on their kit to NR Sports, the company run by Neymar’s parents, in exchange for clearing a R$ 12 million FIFA transfer ban linked to a debt owed to Monaco. The club now awaits new deals the firm can bring in.
According to Globo.com, NR Sports paid the sum upfront to lift the sanction and allow Santos to register signings again, including midfielder Arthur Melo, requested by Neymar. In return, the company will control specific uniform properties to market.
Those areas can be filled by brands from the Neymar family portfolio, such as Pelé or Pley by Ney, or by new commercial partners. The slots are the socks, front of the shorts, back of the shorts, the number, the external scudetto at the centre of the chest, and the back hem of the shirt.
Santos estimate that, sold across 12 instalments, all these assets could total R$ 18 million to R$ 20 million in a more optimistic scenario.
The arrangement prioritises reimbursing the R$ 12 million outlay for the transfer ban, with any excess then shared between the parties. Both Santos and NR Sports will seek sponsors in the market. This contract is separate from Neymar’s image rights agreement with the same company.
